#LetHerLive: Bridge House Students Domestic Violence Sensitization Initiative Launch
Daily, many women affected by the issue of domestic violence and abuse continuously tend to suffer in silence in fear that reporting will lead to some kind of further punishment. Bridge House Students embarked on a sensitization campaign to Oworonsoki area of Lagos Metropolis in June 2018 to create awareness and empower affected women. 21 students alongside members of staff participated in the 30 minutes walk in the area. Empowerment talks were given by both staff and volunteer students in different languages as not all the women understood English. Fliers containing various verified helplines for domestic violence victims were distributed. The campaign is aimed at training about 10 of the women in trades such as makeup, hair-making, catering etc so they are able to stand for themselves whenever the need arises.
