Dr. M. AlimiABDUL-RAZAQ LLB(Hons), LLM, PhD(Hull), BL, FCIArb, ACTI.
Dr Alimi Abdul-Razaq is a distinguished lawyer and arbitrator who was called to the Bar in 1978.He is the Managing Partner in the law firm of A.Abdul-Razaq SAN & Co.
He attended St Gregory’s College,Ikoyi,Lagos and obtained an LLB(Hons) degree from the Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria. He is an alumnus of the University of Hull,UK from where he graduated in 1983 and 1986 with an LLM and PhD respectively.He is an elected a member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs,London ,a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators NIgeria and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation Nigeria.
Dr Abdul-Razaq has held many public posts notably ,Chairman of the National Iron Ore Co Ltd Itakpe,member Presidential Advisory Committee on Defence and Security, pioneer Commissioner of the NIgerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Director,Kwara State Investment Company and currently a member of the Technical Committee of the National Council on Privatization.He has served on the Boards of several private companies including the New Africa Merchant Bank and Gateway Insurance Co Ltd.
In the academia ,Dr Abdul-Razaq is the patron of the Law Societies of the University of Ilorin and the University of Benin.He is the sponsor of the AGF Abdul-Razaq Professorial Chair in Public Law at the University of Ilorin ,Kwara State.Apart from having written many academic articles ,he is a regular speaker at law conferences including the International Bar Association (IBA) conference.
Dr Abdul-Razaq has also attended Executive Management Programmes at the Harvard University,Imperial College London,University of Florida and Georgetown University.
He is a keen squash player,swimmer and follows the Arsenal.
Mrs. Foluke Kafayat ABDUL-RAZAQ M.Sc
Mrs Foluke Kafayat Abdul-Razaq holds a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Banking and Finance from Nigeria’s premier university, the University of Ibadan, and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School, Boston.
Mrs Abdul-Razaq’s distinguished career in banking spans twenty-five years beginning with Afribank Plc (now Enterprise Bank) and later Credite Bank Nigeria Limited where she was eventually appointed the Executive Chairman, Interim Management Board by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and National Deposit Insurance Company (NDIC).
She is currently a Non Executive Director of the United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) where she is the Chairman of the Bank’s Board Credit Committee as well as a member of the Board’s Audit, Statutory Audit and Nominations and Governance Committees.
Mrs. Abdul-Razaq has held several public post, significantly she was the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, and later, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, between 1997 – 1999. Subsequently, she took up an appointment with the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Limited where she headed several departments including Administration Management Services, Commercial and Corporate Development.
She has served on the board of Nigeria’s largest construction company, Julius Berger plc. She currently serves as the Vice-President, Bank Directors’ Association of Nigeria (BDAN) and a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD).
In 1999, Mrs Abdul-Razaq won the coveted “Lagos State Woman of Excellence” Award and was appointed Justice of the Peace (JP) in 1999.
Her hobbies include travelling and reading.
